Supplemental Notes:
June 7, 2018
Martial Law has been declared in the outer regions of USFP controlled space.
  • Martial Law is in effect for the following Systems:
  • Cerberus System
  • Promethean System
  • Volantis System
  • Including all travel routes in the surrounding areas
Effective immediately all vessels regardless of origin entering and operating in this region are subject to boarding and inspection by TSN personnel, failure to yield to TSN Orders will be considered hostile. Restricted Space has been designated at all USFP and TSN deep space stations within this region, deadly force has been authorized for any unauthorized entry into designated Restricted Space, no warning shall be given. Until further notice all Civil vessels shall file flight plans with TSN Regional Command Ops. Failure to file flight plans or deviation from flight plans on record will result in seizure of the offending vessel and detention of all occupants, pending further investigation.

General Order 8
Upon sighting a warship within USFP space and identifying it as belonging to a foreign power, the Commanding Officer of the TSN vessel/installation shall determine the reason(s) for that craft’s presence in the vicinity. If there is conclusive evidence that the vessel has hostile intentions, the TSN vessel may take appropriate action to safeguard the lives and property of USFP members or other non-aligned persons under current USFP protection. In such cases, the Commanding Officer may use their discretion in deciding whether to use force to disable the hostile vessel. However, care should be taken to avoid unnecessary loss of sentient life.

We received orders from TSN Command to patrol the Martial Controlled Area for Insurgent activity as part of Martial Law, which was declared in the Cerberus, Promethean and Volantis Systems, along with all travel routes in the surrounding areas. TSN Command also requested that we investigate reports of asteroid walls that have been appearing in the sector. Intelligence suspects that these formations are being created by the Terran Insurgency in order to create relay points for equipment and information. Along with staging areas for assault groups, which are beginning to become more frequent.

Moments into our patrol we engaged Terran Insurgent vessels that were attacking an unarmed civilian industrial installation in the sector. Insurgency activity was very high and wide spread in the sector. It appears as though the Insurgency is becoming more skilled with modifying Karlien. All the Terran Insurgent vessels had beams and shields operating at 280% or greater efficiency. This new development is something that will need to be investigated by Intelligence.

I need to commend my First Officer LCdr. Baksh for his impressive flying within the reported asteroid wall, as suspected the Terran Insurgency was storing equipment and salvaged ships within the construct. We were able to enter the wall and destroy these vessels. Of moderate concern was the presence of the TSN Hopper-1 The predecessor of the current flagship of the Fleet. To my knowledge the ship was stored at a TSN junkyard facility. Finding it here is curious. Those facilities are kept secured to prevent materials and technologies of the TSN from being replicated or countered. The fact that the ship was indeed here is troublesome. This points to a much larger problem, as the TSN junkyards are operated by civilians. At the very least we have a security breach, at worst there are Insurgency sympathizers at TSN facilities. This will need to be investigated immediately as this could lead to the Insurgency getting the upper hand during engagements with TSN vessels.

A serious point of concern was all channel communications being transmitted by the Terran Insurgency openly placing a bounty on my head. As per General Order 15 I have been assigned armed escort while within the Martial Controlled Area. In light of this new threat that contingency has been tripled by order of TSN Command. I would have thought that the extra protection would have brought me piece of mind, but instead it serves as a constant reminder that we are in dangerous waters. Long gone are the days that we were explorers. I can see it in my crew, the toll it is taking on them. I can only hope that we can stop the Terran Insurgency before this escalates into a full blown civil war.

We continued our patrol of the Martial Controlled Area, there was rather limited Insurgency activity in the area. The only incident of note was a distress call from a Terran Insurgency ship. We immediately went to investigate, only to arrive too late to be of assistance. After our investigation it appeared that the Insurgency was in the process of constructing another asteroid wall relay point, however they constructed it far too close to a black hole. In the process of accessing the relay point the Insurgency vessel got dragged into the black hole trapped by the numerous asteroids also caught in its pull. It is unknown what ships or materials were stored at this relay point. The location of this relay point has been transmitted to TSN Regional Command Ops for further investigation, however I assume that this location will likely be abandoned due to this incident. It is possible that we may see increased activity in this sector in the coming days as the distress call that was sent out was on all frequencies, it is unknown if there may be other Terran Insurgency vessels that respond to this location.

I am proud to report that Terran Stellar Navy efforts to protect space whales appear to be having the desired effect on the space whale population. During our patrol we monitored and surveyed 2 large whale pods in the sector. One comprised of approximately 25 space whales and the other approximately 45. These large numbers are a good indicator of population growth as it was noted in our survey that roughly 20% of the pods were baby space whales. This information was transmitted to the USFP Space Ecology Counsel for further review and record keeping. It is recommend that a vessel be dispatched to perform tagging to provide more information on migration patterns.

As good as it is to see that these creatures are beginning to thrive once more, it is concerning to see them in such large numbers in the Martial Controlled Area. Due the volatility of the area there are concerns that the Space Whales may get caught in the crossfire of engagements with Terran Insurgents, or worse be hunted by the Terran Insurgents indiscriminately. TSN Regional Command Ops has been informed of this developing situation, the TSN Oshawa we will remain vigilant in this regard.
